The second I got my iTouch I jailbroke it and never looked back. Who are they to tell you what you can use your own property for? I mean, you paid for it..
I recommend you do the same, although I don’t know if there’s a jailbreaking program out for 4.0. You could probably restore to an earlier version and try it then.
My first ipod was pretty decent. The interface was good, the hardware was nice… iTunes was a pig over my network but other than long load times… was OK.
Then came protected files ?!? Can’t play them at my brother’s?? Can’t play them on my wife’s PC? Have to REGISTER my other computers with Apple for the privilege of playing MY music on MY computers??
Then came iPhoto’s MANDATORY face recognition of every photo on every Apple device I own. You start the software and it starts doing facial recognition on your private photos. Sorry, but that’s just creepy and fascist.
Then a few weeks ago I’m trying to shut off my iPod to get out to the car as I’m bordering on being late for a gig… “Wanna enable Genius?” NO… “Wanna store this song on “ToGo?” NO… “Wanna enable Genius?” This retarded piece of s*#$ just kept trying to ‘muscle’ me into using its invasive features. But I found a good way to instantly turn it off and I’d like to share that method with you and highly recommend it. I gripped it firmly by the corner… wound up and fired it at the concrete slab in front of my house as hard as I could. It hit on the corner and basically disintegrated. Oh my God did it feel good. I knew the second I did it that a little piece of my soul had grown back. Now I use a Sansa MP3 player which has an off button… never trys to whine at me to do things I don’t want to do… never trys to get me to give it any personal information… doesn’t require any program at all to load music or movies or podcasts or anything. I could be at home, in a hotel, in New York, in Beijing, in F*ng Zimbabwe… if I can find a PC and a generic USB cord I can upload/download/listen-to music… period. If I can find a computing device, I’m golden… THAT is how an MP3 player should act. It’s a portable media device capable of storing and interacting with media anywhere anytime any reason… Period. That’s what an MP3 player should be. As part of a complex fascist invasive system that limits its usage… it becomes useless. I’m also using Adobe as my photo application now because I value my privacy.
So, as apple becomes as annoying and even more invasive than the PC was at the height of the Vista debacle, I’m starting to notice that all I really have are slightly more secure and way less functional computers. Might have to do something about that when I upgrade for the business. I hear Win7 is decent and way less annoying and invasive than Vista… hmmm… hmmm…

It’s an e-book that comes with iOS 4 and their reader app for free, so that’s probably what you “purchased”

Yeah, right. We all know the only reason you got the Didj was so you could play your Winnie-the-Pooh games. LOL.

It’s shit like this that makes me hate apple.

Remember, with apple, you never own your hardware. You are simply leasing it from them.
