Augen E go hacking
by Moogle on Oct.29, 2010, under Augen
I purchased an Augen E go and started to hack it :)
Pins needed to enable uart boot mode.
Random photos of the main board
Main chip is the same used in the Didj and LX!
Nand! 2 gig! with a spare spot for upgrading!
Sound Chip
Ethernet chip
USB hub chip
64 mb ram that needed to be reflowed
Unpopulated usb port. I believe it is attached to the wifi
Un populated sound plug
extra nand space
Uart Connector :)
There are 4 tiny tabs to remove the keyboard once you remove the 2 screws on the bottom
My crude quick and dirty uart access :-D

Were you running into problems before you decided to reflow the RAM?

Yes after the system was on for a few minutes the screen would start to flicker and get random graphic artifacts.
I had purchaced this on ebay as “Factory Refurbished” but i knew the seller was lying as it still had a ton of personal information on the system from the previous owner. Rather then ship the system back and wait for a new one I took it apart and fixed it myself
here is a quick video

Thanks, just looking out for possible fixes for if/when I snag one of these.

This is a bit old of a post, but when UART boot is enabled is it possible to boot from usb (possibly to install a different os)?
