I have successfully made my own transistor using a piece of germanium, some copper wire and my 3doodler.
Too sleepy to do extensive tests. I know it works properly, tested with my fluke 83
1.756 v using diode tester knee voltage at base – emitter
I have some old germanium diodes here, possibly suitable for this.
