Tivax STB-T9 Uart and fan mod

Having too much fun with the Tivax STB-T9. Feeling lazy but will add more details later here is what I’ve done so far.

DSC00300

Noticed unpopulated usb port on the front panel. 4 pins same as uart

DSC00311

Simple header and cap installed. Capacitor isn’t really needed but couldn’t hurt anything.

Lazy photo :D

DSC00303

Hole in front needed to be cut out

DSC00306

Was a little rough

DSC00324

Will make a custom uart – usb adapter later.

DSC00319

Noticed that the main chip gets quite hot. So I looked at the schematic and found the 12v power supply.

DSC00318

Capacitor removed is where the 12v can be tapped for a fan. Removed the Capacitor as solder on it wasn’t as nice as it could have been.

DSC00322

Added power switch to mains and attached fan to 12v. Turns on and off with soft power so fan only runs when system is on :)
